Elizabeth had fun taking her own 6 yr. OTTB “Obi-1” and 5 yr. TB “Riptide” to the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, NC. to compete in the Pipe Opener II Combined Test on 2/15/20. It was Obi’s first show of any kind since retiring from racing, and Tide’s first Beginner Novice Combined test at CHP. Both horses finished on their dressage scores and did not look at any of the jumps, although Obi was quite certain there was a starting gate somewhere around the arenas. Tide who never raced and is much more laid back improved his score slightly and is continuing to find a more “uphill” balance as he matures:) Elizabeth was extremely grateful to her student Patience Stevens for grooming for her for the day, and both Hannah McDiarmid and her husband John for helping her get off to an early start!
